Thinking out loud: Kulturnatta, shirt trick, an approrch to problems and a haunting
Dear reader,
It’s October, and that means Kulturnatta, a night for whimsical cultural experiences with music, light, and art, all open and free for wandering souls. Every corner of Gothenburg seems to shimmer a little differently. You’ll find me at Konserthuset, tucked into a velvet seat, letting the sound carry me somewhere else entirely.
Lately, I’ve been thinking about styling versus wearing, the art of making the most of what you already have. I met a man who runs one of the city’s big second-hand stores, and we ended up talking about how a wardrobe becomes more interesting when you stop chasing trends and start playing with what’s already yours. Later, a little trick I found on Pinterest gave new life to an old shirt. Sometimes, that’s all it takes, a fresh knot, a new fold, a small shift in perspective.
When I was in Copenhagen for a UX conference, a pilot gave a talk about communication. His words have stayed with me more than the slides: “The problem is always ahead of you.” Even if things have gone wrong before, you can’t fix them by looking back. You must keep your eyes forward, steady, ready. There was something oddly comforting in that thought.
In my book club, we’re reading The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson, a book that’s equal parts eerie and elegant. It’s the perfect companion for darkening evenings, best read with a blanket, a cup of tea, and maybe a light left on, just in case.
