Eas

As a part of my education at Chalmers University of Technology, my group and I created a concept for our client Veoneer. The concept aimed to make drivers take a break during car rides that lasted more than three hours. The process involved both group and individual work.

THE USER STUDY

The user study included interviews, UX-curves and a diary study. The material was analysed by creating an affinity diagram.

UX-curve was created where the interviewees got the chance to reflect on a previous long journey. The diary study was performed to see if there were any major differences between the behaviour of the people who just had completed a long journey.

MY INDIVIDUAL CONCEPT

Based on the insights from the user study and research I created a concept for an app called Eas. The solution aims to make people choose a place to take a break, before the journey has started. The driver will also have received positive feedback before the choice is made. This will nudge people into taking this break.

I created an interactive prototype in Adobe XD. To test and evaluate the concept I performed A/B-testing as well as scenario-based evaluation.

Team delivery

The team delivery consists of a problem statement, the findings, design guidelines and also concept for working proactively against drowsy driving. This was put together to a report that was sent to the company however, a recap is available below.

Retrospective and Learnings

Acquiring new skills

For this project I upgraded my Adobe Suite skills with Adobe XD to be able to create a representation of my concept. Since time was short I had to rapidly learn the new skill and also use my critical and logical thinking skills to fill the gaps with the data I didn’t have.

Data visualisation

Beyond my individual proposal we also did a team delivery for the client. They did not expect a design concept but wanted the result of the data we had collected. This challenged us in the way of how to visualise data in an easy-to-understand way for non-designers. The results were a driver profile and a set of guidelines.
