Fabric samples, Lunch, and the Sea

Dear reader,

I’m already into my second week back at work, though the pace still feels unhurried, or perhaps it’s simply me who no longer allows myself to be rushed.

M was away this weekend, so I spent it in quiet company with myself. I wandered through fabric samples, choosing one for a bespoke blouse gifted by dear friends, then took one of them for lunch while the city slowly stirred to life around us.

Later that day, I pedalled my bike to the sea. The air was cooler, a few degrees less than the week before, but the water still held me gently. It feels like such a cliché to say, but I love the sea. I always have. I feel more at ease on its shifting surface than I do in most social situations. The sea never hurries; it just moves, steady and certain, exactly as it should.
